ZION NATIONAL PARK — Police say one person was taken to a hospital and another 250 were evaucated from Zion Lodge because of a propane leak.

Zion Canyon law enforcement ranger Keith Winslow says dispatch was called about a propane leak Thursday morning. Park personnel had the lodge, shuttle stop area and restrooms evacuated.

Officials found that one of four propane tanks used by the lodge at its north end near the Grotto trailhead was the source of the leak.

The person transported to the hospital was an employee who suffered from gas inhalation while trying to shut off the main valve.

Operations resumed after about an hour.
