Jazz-festival musicians to offer clinics at the U.
Free music clinics have always been a part of the Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival.
This year, all clinics will be held at David Gardner Hall at the University of Utah on Saturday, July 11. Beginning, intermediate and advanced musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments. Those who don't play, but love music are also encouraged to attend.
Here is this year's clinic schedule:
9-10 a.m. — Composer/arranger Patrick Williams, composition, room to be determined
10-11 a.m. — Guitarist Geoff Miller, improvisation master class, room to be determined
10-11 a.m. — Members of the Great Basin Street Band, "Fundamentals of Traditional Jazz," room to be determined
11 a.m.-noon — The People's Republic of China presents: Rap session with members of the Youth Jazz Band of Tianjin Conservatory, Dumke Recital Hall
Noon-1 p.m. — Members of Spyro Gyra, Dumke Recital Hall
Noon-3 p.m. — Vocal coach Marge Rivingston and pianist Vinnie Falcone, "Do You Hear What I Hear?/The Legacy of Sinatra and Other Great Singers, Vocal Production Master Class," room to be determined
