NEW YORK — Franklin Gutierrez and Russell Branyan homered, leading the Seattle Mariners past CC Sabathia and the Yankees 8-4 on Thursday night to snap New York's seven-game winning streak.

Ichiro Suzuki hit a two-run double and Chris Woodward added two RBIs as the Mariners handed Sabathia (7-5) his second loss in 11 starts.

Seattle won in the Bronx for the first time since Sept. 3, 2007, ending a 10-game road losing streak against the Yankees.

Gutierrez had three hits and Branyan launched his 20th homer in the ninth inning, a two-run drive off right-hander Alfredo Aceves that made it 8-4.

Miguel Batista (5-2) pitched two hitless innings to win in relief of Jason Vargas, who lasted four innings with flu symptoms.

WHITE SOX 4, ROYALS 1: At Kansas City, Mo., Mark Buehrle was dominant into the ninth inning, allowing six hits and a run, and the surging Chicago White Sox beat Kansas City for their fifth victory in a row.

Now 20-8 lifetime against KC, Buehrle started the ninth with a four-hit shutout but failed to get his first complete game since May 2, 2008, when Alberto Callaspo doubled and scored on David DeJesus' one-out double.

He was relieved by Bobby Jenks, who got the last two outs for his 19th save in 21 chances for the White Sox, who have won 10 of their last 12 games and 14 of their last 19 on the road.

Until the ninth, the 30-year-old Buehrle had been dominant. He did not issue a walk and had only one strikeout, a season low in 8 1-3 innings.

ANGELS 5, ORIOLES 2: At Anaheim, Calif., Bobby Abreu hit two home runs, John Lackey pitched eight solid innings and the Los Angeles Angels beat the lowly Baltimore Orioles.

The multihomer game was the 14th of Abreu's career, his first as an Angel. Both his shots to right field came off Baltimore starter Jeremy Guthrie, who gave up nine hits in seven innings.

Lackey, who had a loss and a no-decision in his last two starts, got the run support he needed this time. He struck out seven and gave up two hits.
