Salt Lake Bees: Bellhorn's HRs finish off Bees
In a game that was close throughout, the Sky Sox pulled out the victory 4-2 over the Bees Thursday, thanks in part to Mark Bellhorn.
The Sky Sox stuck first as Matt Murton singled home Eric Young Jr. in the bottom of the first inning to give the Sox an early 1-0 lead. Colorado Springs' lead didn't last long, however, as Salt Lake scored in the top of the second when catcher Bobby Wilson belted a homer to left field off Sox starter Franklin Morales.
The Bees tied the game again in the top of the third by way of another solo bomb, this time by Patchett, that tied the game at 2-2.
The game would stay tied until the sixth when Sox designated hitter Bellhorn cranked a ball to left-center field for a solo homer giving the Sox a 3-2 lead. Bellhorn wasn't finished there as he added another solo blast in the eighth, this time a towering shot to left.
Ryan Speier (1-0) would pick up the win for the Sky Sox after replacing Morales in the fifth.
BEESWAX: The Bees recalled outfielder Nate Sutton from Double-A Arkansas and reassigned infielder Chris Gutierrez to Arkansas.
Sutton, 26, has appeared in 68 games for the Travelers in 2009, hitting .298 with 11 doubles, two triples, one home run, 23 RBI and nine stolen bases. In 2008, he hit .276 with 12 doubles, six triples, seven home runs, 44 RBIs and 19 stolen bases for Arkansas. The Santa Cruz, Calif., native was originally selected by the Angels in the 24th round of the 2004 draft.
Gutierrez, 25, has appeared in three games for the Bees in 2009, hitting .222 with one double. He appeared in 21 games this season for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. He hit .242 with three doubles and two RBI before his release on June 17. The Orlando, Fla., native originally signed with the Blue Jays as a free agent in 2005 before signing with the Angels on June 17, 2009.
