Two men were charged Thursday after police say they broke into two vehicles at a police chief's home.

The charges say that on Monday, Jorge Enriquez, 30, and Jose Ibarra Hernandez, 22, were seen breaking into two vehicles at the Murray home of Cottonwood Heights Police Chief Robby Russo.

A neighbor saw the two men breaking into the vehicles, followed the men and was able to get the license plate number of the car they were in, the charges said.

After inspecting the vehicle, Russo reported that a "$900 taser, a $2,195 police radio and miscellaneous patches and law enforcement pins and tie tacks valued at approximately $100 were stolen from his undercover police vehicle," according to the charges.

Another car at the chief's house was also broken into and an iPod was taken from that car, the charges said.

The license plate number led police to an address in Taylorsville where they found the suspect vehicle at an apartment complex. The two men were located nearby and one of them had an iPod and tie tack pins in his shirt pocket, the charges said.

Officers also found police patches and car decals in the area. Officers recovered all of the stolen items except for the police radio, according to the charges.
