These cupcakes are a joy to look at. They're colored like jewels, edges rolled delicately in contrasting sprinkles, frosting fluted or dolloped like a kiss, topped with candies or cookies or shavings or dragees.

It's hard to say which ones we liked best. My son almost literally dived into his "Starry Starry Night" vanilla cupcake with ocean-blue frosting, eating it like a dog from the topmost peak of frosting down to the bottom of the paper.

We got a bunch of So Cupcake's mini cupcakes to try as many flavors as possible, and it was hard to choose a favorite. Several members of our group adored the So Cherry Cream Cheese, a fruity cupcake with a dollop of cream-cheese icing and a single pearl of cherry-pie filling on top, while others preferred the So High the Moon lemon cupcake, which didn't skimp on real lemon flavor in either cake or frosting.

I liked the two chocolate varieties we tried, the straightforward CoCo Delight with chocolate cake and frosting and the super-rich Yummy Licious Brownie variety. The red velvet cupcake with cream-cheese frosting was a gem, as well, but I was totally entranced by the So Cozy Cinnamon Sugar cupcake, subtly and beautifully flavored with smooth frosting and a darling little cinnamon Teddy Graham on top.

Besides a half-dozen best sellers, the flavors available change all the time, providing even more incentive to go back often — as if I needed one.

So Cupcake: $1.25 per mini cupcake or $14 a dozen, $2.50 per regular cupcake or $26 a dozen.
