AWAY WE GO — ★★★ — What saves this amiable comedy-drama is that we come to know and care about its characters. Running time: 94 minutes, R (vulgarity, profanity, sex, nude art, slurs, brief drugs)

THE BROTHERS BLOOM — ★★★ — A peculiar, darkly comic caper film with clever lines of dialogue and some serious literary references. Running time: 109 minutes, PG-13 (violence, profanity, vulgarity, slurs, brief nudity, brief sex, gore)

DEPARTURES — ★★★ — This thoughtful drama's deliberate tempo may test the patience of some. Japanese with subtitles, running time: 130 minutes, PG-13 (vulgarity, sex, brief partial nudity, brief gore, mild profanity, slurs)

DRAG ME TO HELL — ★★★ — This modestly budgeted, supernatural thriller is one of the more fun films to come along this year. Running time: 99 minutes, PG-13 (violence, gore, slurs, vulgarity, profanity, nude art)

EASY VIRTUE — ★★ — There's not enough of Noel Coward's biting wit on display here. Jessica Biel stars. Running time: 96 minutes, PG-13 (sex, brief nudity, vulgarity, slurs, violence)

FAST & FURIOUS — ★½ — Essentially a remake of the 2001 hit "The Fast and the Furious" with the same cast. Running time: 108 minutes, PG-13 (violence, sex, profanity, drugs) — Christy Lemire, Associated Press

GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST — ★★ — Matthew McConaughey's latest is a pale imitation of earlier, better comedies. Running time: 100 minutes, PG-13 (vulgarity, profanity, brief sex, violence, slurs, nude art, brief drugs)

THE HANGOVER — ★★★ — Given how sick and wrong this comedy is, you may feel guilty for laughing. Running time: 100 minutes, R (profanity, vulgarity, violence, drugs, nudity, slurs, sex, brief gore)

HANNAH MONTANA: THE MOVIE — ★★A mix of musical numbers and silly slapstick, clearly crafted for Miley Cyrus fans. Running time: 102 minutes, G (slapstick violence, mild profanity, mild profanity)

ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS — ★★½ — The third installment is considerably less fresh than the original, 2002 hit. Reviewed Wednesday, running time: 94 minutes, PG (violence, vulgarity, slurs, brief drugs)

LAND OF THE LOST — ★★ — The big-screen adaptation of the kids show is full of lowest common denominator humor. Running time: 100 minutes, PG-13 (violence, vulgarity, profanity, drugs, brief sex, slurs, brief gore, nude art)
