ZION NATIONAL PARK — A propane gas leak in Zion National Park has sent one person to the hospital.

At 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning, the main line connected to a propane tank behind the Zion Lodge shuttle stop's public restrooms had broken loose from the tank and started leaking.

"It was audible. You could hear the leak," said park spokesman Ron Terry. Maintenance and medical crews arrived at the shuttle stop to find one person suffering from gas inhalation. The person was treated on the scene and taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.

The injured person's identity and condition were not immediately available.

Zion employees evacuated the restrooms and shuttle stop while maintenance crews in hazmat suits repaired the leak. The area was reopened once the wind had dissipated the propane by 9:55 a.m.
