PROVO — Police have identified a man who they say robbed a Provo pharmacy after spending more than an hour chatting with store employees.

Police say Jack Rader, 23, of Las Vegas, entered the Walgreens at 1315 N. State, around 1 a.m. Monday and talked with employees before leaving at 2 a.m. At 3:40 a.m., he came back to the store and started talking again, said Provo Police Capt. Cliff Argyle.

Twenty minutes later, Rader told the pharmacist he wanted OxyContin and oxycodone and pulled out a pistol, Argyle said.

To speed up the robbery, Rader jumped over the counter and grabbed several bottles of each type of pill police said.

Thanks to surveillance photos from Walgreens, Argyle said someone recognized Rader and called police Monday. He was arrested Wednesday in La Verkin.
