A Garland man died after his vehicle was struck by another car Tuesday afternoon.
The 40-year-old driver was coming around a slight curve, northbound on SR-38 between Brigham City and Honeyville, when his car was struck head-on. The second driver, an 18-year-old in a Ford Fusion, had drifted across the centerline while taking the same curve.
The Garland man died at the scene. The second driver was air lifted to McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden in serious condition.
Utah Highway Patrol has not determined why the second driver drifted out of his lane, said spokesman Cameron Roden. He said it appeared that neither driver hit their brakes before the vehicles collided.
The road was closed for two hours after the accident.
Neither driver's identity was immediately released, pending notification of family members,Roden said.
The case will be screened through the Box Elder County Attorney's Office, he said.
