Smoke in cockpit causes evacuation
Passengers on a United Airlines flight at the Salt Lake City International Airport were evacuated this morning after smoke was detected in the cockpit.
The incident was reported a little after 11 a.m. Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann said United Flight 6184 from Salt Lake City to Chicago was on the taxiway when the problem was detected. The plane immediately returned to the terminal and let everyone off, she said.
The source of the smoke was being investigated. As of 11:30 a.m., passengers were waiting to find out if they would be put on another flight or back on their original flight after it was fixed. No injuries were reported.
