MURRAY — The Utah Attorney General's Office will auction off a South Jordan man's sports memorabilia in an effort to repay victims of the man's fraud scheme.
Some of the items in the sealed-bid auction include a baseball autographed by Babe Ruth, a bat signed by Willie Mays and a jersey signed by Michael Jordan. There will also be sports memorabilia signed by Hank Aaron, Mark McGuire, Jose Canseco, Bo Jackson, Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Ken Griffey Jr. and Sammy Sosa.
"This auction is a chance for Utahns to own a part of sports history and help make some fraud victims whole at the same time," said Attorney General Mark Shurtleff.
The auction of assets will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9 at 5272 S. College Drive (500 West).
Darin Layne Kracl, 41, was convicted in October of securities fraud for taking $6.7 million from some of his investors, according to the attorney general's office.
Kracl was ordered to serve 90 days in jail and then begin paying restitution, according to court records.
