Local First Utah is again organizing Independents' Week — June 27 through July 4 — to promote locally owned, independent businesses.
The week kicks off at the Downtown Farmers Market at Pioneer Park from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, with raffles and giveaways.
On Sunday, June 28, there will be live music from UtahFM.org, games, contests and fun for children and adults at the People's Market at the International Peace Gardens at Jordan Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as contests and fun for children and adults.
Events are also planned for the Park City Farmers Market on July 1 at The Canyons and July 2 at the State Room, 638 S. State, Salt Lake City. Details can be found at www.localfirst.org.
Local First Utah cites research that indicates that locally owned, independent businesses contribute more than three times to a local economy as chain businesses.
