LAYTON — Criminal charges have been filed against a Layton man accused of pimping two teenage girls.
Prosecutors say Juan Manuel Trinidad Garay, 34, was driving two 14-year-old girls around in his car at night with the intent to prostitute them, according to charges filed in 2nd District Court. They also allege that he allowed the girls to take pornographic pictures of themselves so he could advertise them to potential customers.
Investigators say Trinidad Garay had been doing this in Layton from at least March 1 to May 13.
The charges also accuse him of trying, on one occasion, to remove one of the girls' clothes to have sex with her.
He was charged with two counts of aggravated exploitation of a prostitute, a second-degree felony, attempted unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a class A misdemeanor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class B misdemeanor.
Police suspect several others are involved, but Layton Police Lt. Quinn Moyes could not comment as to whether officers have arrested anyone else.
"Our focus now is to get help to the victims," Moyes said.
