A 24-year-old woman was killed and three others critically injured after they hit an elk while driving on state Route 89 in Sanpete County.
Brooke Baldwin, of Holladay, was driving with three friends about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday when they hit an elk standing in the road, according to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The accident caused the vehicle to go off the road, through a fence and roll onto its top.
Everyone was wearing a seat belt, the UHP reported. Speed was being investigated as a factor in the accident. At last word, the three passengers were each in critical condition at Sanpete Valley Hospital.
