A head-on collision killed one man and left two others injured in Carbon County early Wednesday.

A GMC truck was headed eastbound on U.S. 6 just outside Helper, while a Lexus was coming from the other direction, according to a press release from the Utah Highway Patrol. The truck failed to "negotiate the curve and crossed left of center," the release said. The truck and car collided head on. Neither vehicle tried to avoid the other, according to the UHP.

A passenger in the Lexus, Robert Craig Jackson Sr., 63, of Hazel Park, Mich., died at the scene. The driver of the car sustained critical injuries to his head and legs and was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. The driver of the truck sustained serious injuries to his legs and was also taken to the hospital.

Fatigue might be a factor in the accident, according to the release.

Traffic lanes were closed for about two hours. The county attorney will review the accident once the investigation is complete. All occupants were wearing seat belts expect for the driver of the truck, according to the UHP.
