MLS power rankings

Published: Wednesday, June 24 2009 12:00 a.m. MDT

1. Houston (8-2-4): Late goal against RSL extended unbeaten streak to 11 games.

2. Chivas USA (8-4-3): In midst of SuperLiga, Chivas doesnt return to league action until July 11.

3. Colorado (5-2-5): Very quietly the Rapids are climbing up the Western Conference standings.

4. D.C. United (5-3-8): Looked bad in a 3-1 trouncing at Colorado over the weekend.

5. Chicago (5-3-6): SuperLiga break might do Fire good after three straight league losses.

6. Columbus (4-3-7): Unbeaten streak came to a surprising end against FC Dallas.

7. Seattle (5-3-7): Hovering around mediocrity with a 1-1-7 record in past nine matches.

8. Kansas City (5-5-4): One of four teams taking a three week break for the SuperLiga.

9. Real Salt Lake (4-6-4): All things considered, tying Houston isnt necessarily a bad thing.

10. Toronto FC (5-5-4): Fresh off winning Canadian title, has a busy week with two MLS games.

11. New England (4-4-4): The second lowest scoring team in MLS looked great in SuperLiga.

12. FC Dallas (3-7-4): Rallied for an impressive win over streaking Columbus last week.

13. San Jose (3-8-3): Kept slim hopes of a playoff berth alive with solid win over the Galaxy.

14. L.A. Galaxy (2-3-9): Even Donovan and Beckham might not be able to turn things around.

15. New York (2-10-4): With two tough road games this week expect the losing to continue.

Tonight's games

New York at Toronto FC, 5:30 p.m. (DK)

FC Dallas at Colorado, 7:30 p.m. (DK)

Saturday's games

New York at Columbus, 5:30 p.m. (FSC)

Toronto at Real Salt Lake, 7:30 p.m. (KUTV2.2)

Sunday's games

Colorado at Seattle, 2 p.m. (DK)

Houston at L.A. Galaxy, 8 p.m. (ESPN2)

Game of the week

Colorado at Seattle

Rapids are 3-0-4 since an April 19 loss at Houston, and though they sit in fourth place in the West with 20 points they've played two fewer games than everyone else. A win at a Seattle team with seven ties in its past nine matches would be a huge boost for Colorado.
