Virginia Commonwealth point guard Eric Maynor has canceled a planned Jazz workout due to back spasms.
UCLA point Darren Collison wouldn't come because he doesn't want to play limited minutes behind star Deron Williams. Ditto North Carolina's Ty Lawson and St. Mary's Patrick Mills, both also first-round prospects in Thursday's NBA Draft.
But like second-round contender Jeremy Pargo of Gonzaga, Wake Forest's Jeff Teague — a possible Utah pick at No. 20 overall — wouldn't shy away.
"You can ... learn so much from him," Teague said after auditioning Tuesday in Utah with five others, despite having hurt a knee in a recent workout at Minnesota. "I don't see any reason why anybody wouldn't play with him."
The Jazz liked what they saw from Teague — the same point who dropped 30 in a Wake win over BYU back in January, followed by 34 in a victory over eventual NCAA-champ North Carolina.
"He's so talented with the ball," player personnel vice president Walt Perrin said, "and we just wanted to see some other things, which we saw."
But Perrin also said that after watching them elsewhere, the Jazz — especially in a point-strong draft — wouldn't shy from considering Collison, Lawson or Mills, either.
