Medical convention brings 6,000 to Salt Lake

The Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau said Monday that the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine will have its annual meeting in Salt Lake City in 2013.

The convention is expected to have 6,000 attendees, generate 13,000 room nights and produce $5.3 million in delegate spending.

Other cities that were considered are San Diego; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Honolulu.

The society is a nonprofit, scientific association promoting communication, research, development and applications in the field of magnetic resonance in medicine and biology and related topics, and developing and providing for continuing education in the field. It has more than 6,000 members.
