At least six people were arrested, including one person who was Tasered by police, following a loud party in the basement of a Salt Lake bakery over the weekend.
About 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a party near 900 South and 200 East. In the basement, officers found more than 100 people, including juveniles, many of them drinking and serving alcohol, said Salt Lake police detective Dennis McGowan.
Backup was called after some of the partygoers became confrontational with police. One man tried to encourage others to fight with officers and was very loud, aggressive and intoxicated, McGowan said.
After repeatedly ignoring police commands to be quiet, the man got into a struggle with one of the officers. The fight was stopped after another officer hit the man with a Taser, McGowan said.
Six adults were arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of various charges. Three others were cited and released. Medical crews were called to evaluate at least one 17-year-old who was vomiting from drinking too much alcohol, he said.
About 20 officers were called to break up the party. McGowan said officers had been called to the basement in the past to break up rave parties. He didn't believe this weekend's bash classified as a rave, however, just a rowdy party.
