Utah resident Mike Weir saw his hopes for a U.S. Open championship fade after a string of four bogeys in five holes during the third round Sunday morning.
The former BYU golfer started the day in third place but finds himself in seventh, six shots behind the leaders, three holes into the final round.
Weir stands at one under par after he missed a short putt on the third hole of the fourth round. Had the shot fallen, he would have been in a five-person tie for third with Phil Mickelson and three others.
