Weather services warns of severe storms

The Salt Lake office of the National Weather Service issued thunderstorm warning and thunderstorm watch bulletins Sunday afternoon for counties in north and north central Utah.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued at 2:17 p.m. for western Carbon and north central Emery counties as a storm packing 60 m.p.h winds, quarter-size hail and "continuous cloud-to-ground lightening" moves into those areas. The warning is in effect through 3 p.m. Residents in these areas are warned to move indoors immediately.

At 2:40 p.m. Sunday, a thunderstorm watch was issued for the following counties: Box Elder, Cache, Carbon, Davis, Duchesne, Morgan, Rich, Salt Lake, Summit, Tooele, Utah, Wasatch and Weber. Residents in these areas should be prepared for severe weather through 9 p.m. Sunday evening.
