WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento scored early and often as the River Cats routed the Salt Lake Bees 10-5 in Pacific Coast League action on Friday night.
Sacramento plated a run in the first inning, one in the second and two in the third off of Bees' starter Mike MacDonald to take a 4-0 lead.
Salt Lake's Howie Kendrick belted a two-run homer in the top of the fourth to cut the Bees' deficit in half, but Aaron Cunningham answered with a two-run shot of his own in the bottom of the fourth to give the Cats a 6-2 lead. Sacramento put the game away with three runs in the sixth and one more in the eighth.
MacDonald (4-7) took the loss, as he went 52?3 innings and allowed nine runs on 14 hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Brad Coon had three hits to lead the Bees, while Adam Pavkovich added two hits, including a double, with one RBI.
The double was the 98th of Pavkovich's Salt Lake career to make him the franchise's all-time leader by one over former Buzz infielder Brian Raabe. Matt Brown also had two hits, as the Bees dropped their third straight game and their ninth consecutive regular-season game in Sacramento.
