It was his first goal with RSL, and now teammates are teasing him in training that suddenly he thinks he's a goal scorer. That's just fine with Borchers, who was happy to end the long MLS scoring drought.
"The ball took a lucky deflection off Eddie Lewis. I think it was pretty difficult for me to miss a chance like that," said Borchers, who was "really just happy to put one on the board for the guys and make a difference in the game."
LEAVING A DAY EARLY: In preparation for its big match in Houston this weekend, RSL is taking all of the necessary steps to be prepared. The team departs for Texas today, a day earlier than it traditionally has in the past.
"Last year when we got down there, we realized how much different the humidity was, especially going from here with this weather we've had lately to Houston was a huge, huge change and we realize we need to get down there and have a training session," said RSL coach Jason Kreis.
RSL will hold a closed-door training session at Robertson Stadium at 5 p.m. on Friday.
