Communities surrounding Camp Williams: Do not be scared. It is only gunfire.

Beginning Friday, June 19, the Utah National Guard will conduct artillery exercises at Camp Williams, with firing occurring between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The exercises will last until Wednesday, June 24.

"It's critical to our readiness that our soldiers continue to train and prepare for their wartime mission," said Lt. Col. Hank McIntire, Utah National Guard spokesman. "And we also want to be good neighbors by ensuring that residents in the area of Camp Williams know ahead of time that there may be some noise that they don't normally hear."

Residents of Bluffdale, Riverton, Herriman, Eagle Mountain, Saratoga Springs and Lehi are expected to hear the activities.

For more information, contact the National Guard at 801-878-5421.
