Former Jazz coach and general manager Frank Layden remains hospitalized locally due to an undisclosed medical issue.
Layden, 74, was admitted late last week and is expected to be released sometime later this week.
Layden was head coach of the Jazz from December 1981 through December 1988, compiling a 277-294 regular-season rec?ord and an 18-23 playoff mark during that span. He was named Jazz general manager in May 1979, after the club announced plans to move from New Orleans to Utah, and served as team president from the time he exited as coach until retiring on Dec. 29, 1999.
Layden's son, former Jazz general manager Scott Layden, currently works as a Jazz assistant coach.
