Dynamo run unbeaten streak to 10 straight
FRISCO, Texas — Cam Weaver scored two goals to help Houston extend its unbeaten streak to 10 games. Richard Mulrooney also scored for the Dynamo (8-2-3), who won their fifth straight with a 3-1 win, moved into a tie with idle Chivas USA atop the Western Conference. Chivas plays at Columbus today.
Drew Moor scored for FC Dallas (2-7-4), which had its four-game unbeaten streak snapped.
Weaver also came close to scoring in the 55th minute with two shots on goal in less than 5 seconds, but Dallas goalkeeper Ray Burse deflected Weaver's header and then batted away Weaver's rebound shot while still lying on the ground.
D.C. UNITED 2, FIRE 1: At Washington, Christian Gomez and Jaime Moreno scored, Josh Wicks stopped Brian McBride's second-half penalty kick, and D.C. United beat the Chicago Fire.
Gomez scored the winner on a free kick shortly before halftime, and Moreno scored his fifth goal of the season on a penalty kick for United (5-2-7), which won its second in a row.
When the Fire came up with a penalty kick of their own in the 49th minute for Wicks' tackle of McBride, Wicks dropped to his right to bat away the ball for one of his five saves.
Chicago (5-3-6) tied the score at 1 in the 33rd minute on Marco Pappa's goal but lost its third consecutive game and first on the road.
TORONTO FC 2, RED BULLS 1: At Toronto, Sam Cronin and Danny Dichio scored in the first half and Toronto FC held off New York.
Albert Celades scored in the 54th minute for New York (2-10-3), which lost its fifth straight.
The Red Bulls, last in the Eastern Conference, extended their winless streak to six games. They also dropped to 0-7-1 on the road while getting outscored 12-1. New York has won just once in its last 10 games and is winless in its last 20 road games dating to last season, an MLS record.
Toronto (5-5-4) snapped a two-game skid.
WIZARDS 3, REVOLUTION 1: At Kansas City, Kan., Davy Arnaud and Aaron Hohlbein scored in the first half to lead Kansas City past New England.
The Wizards (5-5-4) also benefited from an own goal that deflected off New England defender Jeff Larentowicz, helping them double their first-half output for the season. Kansas City had scored three times in the opening half in its first 13 games.
Shalrie Joseph scored for the Revolution (4-4-4) played without Emmanuel Osei after he was ejected in the 31st minute.
SOUNDERS 2, QUAKES 1: At Seattle, Freddie Ljungberg and Freddy Montero each netted a goal to give Seattle its fifth win in its inaugural season.
Kasey Keller couldn't hold the clean sheet as Darren Huckerby added a goal for San Jose in the 68th minute.
