UTAH VALLEY

SOCCER: Coach Brent Anderson has announced the 2009 schedule, which includes eight home games and the Wolverines' first season as members of the Great West Conference.

Story continues below

"We have a very challenging schedule this year. Our non-conference schedule will certainly test us as we will be competing against some very high quality programs. Ultimately, I feel that it will prepare us for the competition of our new conference opponents," said Anderson, who led the Wolverines to their best season ever in 2008.

"The team is excited to get back out on the field and test themselves, we are looking forward to playing at home where we have experienced incredible support from our great fans and student body."

After two home exhibitions, UVU will open the regular season at Utah on Aug. 21 before playing two games in Moscow, Idaho, against Seattle and Idaho. The first regular-season home contest will be Sept. 4 vs. Wyoming.

The 2009 non-conference slate also includes games against UTEP, Southern Utah, Idaho State, Sam Houston State and Big West schools UC Riverside and UC Irvine.

Utah Valley will play the first three of six regular-season Great West Conference matches on the road. The conference schedule begins Oct. 9 at North Dakota before games at South Dakota (Oct. 11) and at Houston Baptist (Oct. 18).

The first home conference match will be Oct. 23 vs. North Dakota with Houston Baptist (Oct. 26) and South Dakota (Oct. 29) rounding out the schedule.
