Jordan School District is bracing for significant change.

On July 1, the mammoth district will split, creating the new Canyons School District.

To mark its changing face, the Board of Education announced Monday a new logo to represent Jordan: a blue shield imprinted with a large J.

Melinda Colton, director of communications for Jordan School District, described the new logo as a coat of arms for the district.

"It symbolizes the traditions of Jordan School District. The knowledge we arm students with will become their protection, their shield," Colton said.

The district also unveiled a new tagline to accompany the logo.

"Our tagline, 'lead, educate and inspire,' skillfully reflects who we are and what we are about," Colton said.

Jordan School District will begin using the new logo and tagline on July 1, when it will officially serve the students living in Bluffdale, Copperton, Herriman, Riverton, South Jordan and West Jordan.
