With Lewis Billings announcing that he is not running for re-election, I would like to be one of the first to say thank you for his many years of service to Provo. There have been few in our city's history who have worked as hard and long as Billings. We should all be grateful for his service and unending work on our behalf.
I recently met with a department head of Provo. I asked him what he viewed as Lewis' greatest strengths. The following are some of the words and phrases he used to describe the mayor: passionate, bright, articulate, a winner, someone who never gives up, who thinks well on his feet and who lives and breathes Provo.
These are all traits I hope to emulate in my race to become the next mayor of Provo. The next mayor will have the advantage of standing on the shoulders of a very tall figure.
I hope each resident of Provo will join all the candidates in fully participating in the discussions necessary to ensure a bright future for Provo.
