FRESNO, Calif. — A ninth-inning rally attempt by the Bees fell one run short, as the Fresno Grizzlies edged Salt Lake 4-3 Sunday afternoon. The Bees trailed by two with two outs in the ninth when Ben Johnson extended the game with a double down the right field line. Ryan Budde followed with a single to center to bring home Johnson and pull the Bees to within one run, but Bobby Wilson popped out to end the game.

Salt Lake grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first on a solo homer by Sean Rodriguez, which was his league-leading 20th of the season.

Dan Denham (3-3) took the loss, as he allowed four runs on seven hits in five innings with three strikeouts and three walks. Francisco Rodriguez tossed three scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 1.50.

Matt Kinney (4-5), who pitched for the 2000 Salt Lake Buzz, got the win for Fresno.
