Eight people were injured in a two-car crash on I-15 Sunday morning.

About 10:20 a.m., a northbound pickup truck attempted to change lanes near Farr West and narrowly missed a car on the left, according to a report from the Utah Highway Patrol. The truck then overcorrected and crossed over the median, where it collided head-on with a another car.

The pickup rolled into a water-filled ditch about 20 yards off the shoulder of the freeway, according to the UHP. A witness held the head of the driver, a 55-year-old woman, above water until rescue crews arrived.

The driver and a passenger, a 38-year-old woman, were flown to a hospital in serious but stable condition. The driver of the other car, a 41-year-old woman, was also flown to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

A brother and sister, ages 13; a 5-year-old girl and a 3-year-old girl were also riding in the truck. They were all taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A 14-year-old girl riding in the other car suffered serious injuries.

None of the injuries appears to be life-threatening, troopers said.

Rain was falling and the roads were wet at the time of the crash, but officials do not believe weather played a role in the crash.

Southbound I-15 was closed for more than two hours Sunday.
