Salt Lake Bees salvage series finale with Sacramento
Salt Lake salvaged more than a split with Sacramento on Friday night at Spring Mobile Ballpark.
The Bees' 6-5 victory over the River Cats also kept a lengthy series streak alive. Ryan Budde drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the 11th inning.
Salt Lake has yet to lose a series at home since last July. The run includes seven series wins and five splits.
The Bees built a 4-0 lead over the first three innings. Brandon Wood got things started with a two-out RBI double in the first. Two innings later, they added a run-scoring groundout by Terry Evans and bases-loaded walks
from Bobby Wilson and Matt Brown.
Sacramento's first run came in the fourth when former BYU slugger Matt Carson singled in a score. It was the lone one allowed by Salt Lake starter Sean O'Sullivan, who recorded five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
The River Cats did, however, manage to erase the deficit later in the game. There was a little give and take along the way.
Sacramento opened its rally with two-run homer by Anthony Recker in the seventh.
Leading 4-3, the Bees regained some breathing room in the bottom of the inning when Brad Coon hit a solo shot.
The River Cats responded with RBI singles from Danny Putnam and Jeff Baisley to pull even in the eighth.
