It was a busy night at Spring Mobile Ballpark.

No one, however, had as much to do as the scoreboard operator. The numbers changed constantly in the Salt Lake Bees' 19-10 loss to the Sacramento River Cats.

The teams combined for 37 hits, including nine homers.

"You hope you don't have any more after this. (It was) a long game and it's frustrating," said Bees manager Bobby Mitchell. "Give them credit. They swung the bats well. ... There were a lot of balls hit hard."

Sacramento, which had 21 hits, jumped all over Salt Lake starter David Austen. The River Cats racked up 10 hits and 10 runs (all earned) over the first 22?3 innings. The right-hander gave up four doubles, a triple and a home run during the outburst.

Things got started early when Eric Munson and Danny Putnam knocked in scores to make it 3-0 in the first. After Salt Lake cut into the deficit with Brandon Wood's RBI single, Sacramento's lead swelled to 8-1 in the second.

Sacramento added two runs in the third before the Bees fired back with a two-run homer from Wood and an Adam Pavkovich solo shot.

More firepower followed.

Former BYU star Matt Carson belted the first of his three home runs — a two-run shot — and Terry Evans did the same for Salt Lake.

Leading 12-7, the River Cats added two more runs on a Salt Lake throwing error in the fifth. The Bees matched it in the bottom of the sixth when Brad Coon and Wood singled in scores. Sacramento retaliated with another outburst before the game was complete thanks to Carson.

BEE LINES: The 16-year-old franchise welcomed its eight millionth fan to the ballpark. Kenton Pies of Syracuse was honored with season tickets and prizes ... Attendance was 5,186 ... The homestand concludes tonight at 7:05 ... The Bees used Pavkovich as a reliever in the ninth after using four pitchers.
