HILL AIR FORCE BASE — A series of flyovers will be happening across the Wasatch Front this week as part of Air Force Week Salt Lake City.
The flyovers are intended to showcase the Air Force's aircraft and mission, and will give people a preview of the Hill Air Force Base Open House/Air Show taking place June 6-7.
"Please don't be alarmed by these planned flyovers," said Mike Monson, the base's emergency manager "People aren't used to seeing this number of aircraft, flying for this extended length of time in close proximity to each other. We encourage people to exercise caution, particularly while driving."
The scheduled flyovers are:
Four F-16 fighter jets will fly over Ed Kenley Amphitheater at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in Layton.
A Utah Air National Guard KC-135 tanker will fly during the Patriotic Parade at 7 p.m. Saturday at Eagle Mountain.
The same KC-135 will fly over Rio Tinto Stadium at 7:55 p.m. Saturday.
Starting Wednesday, several civilian and military aircraft will fly into Hill Air Force Base and Ogden-Hinckley Airport.
Gates open for the open house and air show at 8 a.m., and flying starts at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
