"Dreams With Sharp Teeth" (Docurama, 2007, $26.95). If you're a fan of crusty, profane (he favors the F-word), opinionated writer Harlan Ellison, this is the film for you. Ellison is incredibly prolific (75 books, 1,700 stories), and his work crosses genres, but he is probably best known for his science-fiction stories, which include the classic "Star Trek" TV episode "City on the Edge of Forever."
The outspoken curmudgeon is in full eccentric glory here (during interviews and in old TV clips), along with testimonials from a slew of other writers — oh, and pal Robin Williams!
Extras: widescreen, featurettes
"The Prehistoric Collection: From Dinosaurs to the Dawn of Man" (History/A&E, 2008, eight discs, $59.95). These are episodes from several History Channel shows: "Jurassic Fight Club," "Prehistoric Megastorms," "Journey to 10,000 B.C.," "Clash of the Cavemen."
Computer graphics combine with meticulous research to add excitement to the proceedings, exploring Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons, super hurricanes and all manner of epic creatures.
Extras: widescreen, deleted scenes from "Jurassic Fight Club," bonus episode: "Mega Disasters: Asteroid Apocalypse"
