HUNTINGTON — A woman was killed and another person hospitalized in a head-on collision involving two pickup trucks in Emery County Tuesday.

About 8:45 a.m. a 2002 Chevy pickup was southbound on SR-10, south of Huntington, when it crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a 1990 Chevy pickup truck, according to a Utah Highway Patrol release. The driver of the 1990 Chevy, Tarina Shepherd, 37, of Wellington, Carbon County, died at the scene. The driver of the 2002 Chevy was transported to Castle View Hospital in fair to serious condition, the UHP reported.

Troopers are not sure why the truck drifted into northbound traffic, but say the case is still under investigation.
