A strong field will tee off at Bonneville Golf Course for the annual Richard C. Kramer Salt Lake City Amateur, a 36-hole tournament that begins today and concludes on Sunday.

Tommy Sharp is the defending champion and tees off at 1:10 p.m. with another former champion, Bill Naughton. Other former champions in the field include Todd Barker, Brandon Hargett, Kirk Siddens, Ryan Job and Kurt Bernhisel.

Top contenders include Dan Horner, the defending State Amateur champion who lost in a sudden-death playoff to Sharp last year, 2007 runner-up Tyson Lund, BYU freshman Jordan Rodgers, BYU freshman-to-be Zack Blair, University of Utah golfers Chance Cota and Jeff Kitches and Park City's Robert McRae.

The championship flight golfers all play this afternoon and will be re-paired for Sunday's final round, with the final groups finishing up around 7 p.m. Besides the 92 golfers in the championship flight, 104 golfers will compete in the A and B flights.
