Woodland Hills defers impact fees again

WOODLAND HILLS — City officials agreed Thursday to extend a program of deferring impact fees on building to help construction crews get back to work.

The program allows impact fees to be paid after a home's final inspection, just before the loan closes. Typically, the fees are due when builders obtain a building permit.

"We tried this last year, but there were no takers," Woodland Hills Mayor Toby Harding said.

Homebuilding has slowed to a trickle in many Utah cities, which rely heavily on the fees to meet their budgets.

Salem recently approved a similar program.
