Utah Utes baseball: Team's gritty, determined attitude has earned club NCAA berth

Individual accolades include freshman Tyler Yagi being named the MWC tournament's Most Valuable Player. Teammates C.J. Cron, Corey Shimada, Greg Krause and Jordan Whatcott were also honored for their performances in Utah's MWC tourney title run.
Cron received the league's Freshman of the Year Award. Shimada joined pitchers Budrow and Jordan Whatcott as second-team All-MWC honorees.
During the season, first baseman Austin Jones received National Player of the Week recognition after hitting four homers in a game against Air Force.
Other bright spots include third baseman Nick Kuroczko, who leads the Utes with a .349 batting average and ranks among the nation's leaders in triples with eight.
