Outdoors attractions abound in Utah

Summer is finally here, and it's time to get out and enjoy the outdoors!

Not one for hiking, biking and other "outdoorsy" activities, though? Let your children explore several of Utah's historic outdoor attractions and learn about things such as plant life, animals and Utah's pioneer heritage.

There are plenty of things to do. Check out these options:

HEBER VALLEY RAILROAD

What: Let your children experience a true old-fashioned train ride. Regular train rides and specialized rides are available most of the summer.

Where: 450 S. 600 West, Heber City

When: Open most every day this summer, except Mondays.

Ages: All ages.

How much: Summer prices start at $24 for adults with discounted rates for children and seniors.

THIS IS THE PLACE HERITAGE PARK

What: Come participate in a summer youth rodeo! Children can ride a mechanical bull and participate in calf riding, breakaway roping, a goat chase and more.

Where: 2601 E. Sunnyside Ave., Salt Lake City

When: June 27

How much: General admission is $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and children.

UTAH'S HOGLE ZOO

What: There's a long list of activities at the zoo this summer, including Predator Day, Ice Block Day and a special Teddy Bear Picnic Day. Children also can see the zoo's new Madagascar exhibit and participate in various classes and camps.

Where: 2600 E. Sunnyside Ave., Salt Lake City

When: Predator Day is June 20, Ice Block Day is July 18 and the Teddy Bear Picnic Day is Aug. 8. Camp and class schedules vary.

How much: General admission is $9 for adults and $7 for seniors and children. Camp and class prices vary.
