Arthritis walk is Saturday
The Arthritis Walk, scheduled Saturday morning, is the Arthritis Foundation's annual signature event that raises funds and awareness to fight arthritis, one of the nation's leading causes of disability. It kicks off in communities nationwide each May during National Arthritis Month, raising funds for research, health education and government advocacy efforts to improve the lives of those living with arthritis.
Last year, more than 75,000 people participated in the walk nationally.
Saturday's fundraising walk will begin at 10 a.m. at This Is the Place Heritage Park, 2601 Sunnyside Ave., Salt Lake City. A balloon arch marks the starting line. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
The honoree for this year's event is 12-year-old Anna Snyder.
Arthritis affects nearly 1,700 children and 400,000 adults in Utah and approximately 46 million (one in five) Americans. The Arthritis Walk raises funds and awareness to help prevent, control and cure arthritis and related diseases.
