A Wyoming man died early Sunday morning from a knife wound he suffered in a scuffle at an annual mountain man gathering in Cache County.
Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Matt Bilodeau said Sunday that Tim Andrus, 33, of LaBarge, Wyo., was "wrestling" with an acquaintance about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when he was injured. Andrus died as Cache County and Life Flight medical personnel were treating a wound to his chest.
Bilodeau said investigators were still interviewing potential witnesses and suspects at Old Ephraim's Mountain Man Rendezvous, an event held every Memorial Day in Blacksmith Fork Canyon near Logan. The gathering is a "re-enactment of an 1820s rendezvous" according to organizers. An estimated 500 people were attending the event this weekend, according to police.
Bilodeau said it in previous years it has not been unusual for police to be called out to reports of "drunkenness and fighting" at the gathering.
No arrests had been made as of late Sunday morning, Bilodeau said.
