PROVO — A 21-gun salute and flag ceremony by the Independence High School Junior ROTC will mark the Memorial Day service at 10 a.m. Monday at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 S. State.

Mayor Lewis K. Billings and America's Freedom Festival at Provo speech-contest finalist Meredith Gaufin also are scheduled to speak. The service is free and open to the public.

Following the service until noon, JROTC cadets will offer flag-raising and flag-folding training to interested individuals and groups, a new addition to the service, city spokeswoman Helen Anderson said.
