When Mike Gossin called last week for an interview to promote his band, Gloriana, he was sitting in a California airport, waiting with his brother to catch a flight.

The odd thing was, he couldn't remember at first where he was headed. After a pause came the answer: Spokane, Wash.

Gossin had to find his ticket and check it to refresh his memory.

Since forming Gloriana in 2007, life has been busy for Gossin and band members Rachel Reinert, Cheyenne Kimball and Gossin's brother, Tom Gossin. They've been playing clubs and working hard to get noticed.

This year, they're opening for Taylor Swift and her "Fearless" tour, which heads to Salt Lake City on Tuesday. In between shows, they have scheduled appearances at local high schools and clubs.

While in Utah, they will perform a small lunchtime concert at Hunter High School.

It means long hours, but as Mike Gossin puts it, "if you want to be great, you have to put in as much effort as you can."

"We work really, really hard," he said.

Gloriana has already been nominated for two awards by Country Music Television. And working with Swift is a coveted job, according to Gossin. Her tour is already sold out in cities where tickets have been made available.

Gossin said he is excited to be part of the tour, and his group plans a fun, high-energy set. One of Gloriana's strengths is its dynamic four-part harmonies, according to Gossin.

During the show, he and his group will perform for 30 minutes and will also join Swift for a song during her performance.

"We owe a lot to her," said Gossin.
