An auto collision near the entrance of Salt Lake City International Airport caused a delay for many drivers Tuesday afternoon.
At 2:05 p.m., a tow truck driver pulled off to the shoulder of Terminal Road near the entrance of the airport to make a cell phone call, said Dave Korzep, superintendent of airport operations. While the truck was stopped, it was struck from behind by a car.
The driver of the car suffered serious injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle. The driver of the tow truck was not injured.
It took crews three hours to clear the area of the wreck, Korzep said.
