Hidden Valley hosted the All-Star Golf Invitational Tuesday that brought together the best boys and girls senior players from all high school classifications.

Many of the best girl golfers in the state are underclassmen but three senior girls went head to head in the final group. Murray's Annika Afoa carded an 82 to carry off the first-place trophy and $250 that went with it.

Amanda Snyder, from Syracuse posted an 84 and took home $100.

Box Elder's Morgan Workman also took home $100 with a round of 92.

All three girls posted significantly lower scores at their respective state championships last week, 70, 76 and 75 respectively; and all three attributed the higher scores to the slick greens.

"I tapped it and it went all the way down (to the bottom of the green)," Afoa said on No. 12.

"The greens are quick," Snyder said, but added, "My timing was off today."

She tossed her ball in the lake on the 17th hole after three putting from about 10 feet for a bogey. However, the other two both three-putted that green for a double-bogey.

Afoa posted the only birdie among the three on the par-5 fifth hole. She hit the green with her second shot but her ball continued rolling off the green where she had to chip it back to within two feet and then sank the putt.

"It can't get any worse than this," Snyder said, but then realizing she wanted to remain positive she added, "I'm ready for college golf," where she will play on scholarship at Weber State.

BYU awaits Afoa who has signed a letter of intent with the Cougars.

Workman didn't want to say much about her round but otherwise she was quite chatty. Responding to a question about girl's golf in general she said, "We control the world, just not the golf course."

Her father clarified that statement somewhat, saying: "definitely the household."
