A Colorado man has drowned in a rafting accident on the Colorado River near Lake Powell.
The National Park Service at the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area said Michael Gregory Don Carlos, 37, of Nederland, Colo., was rafting the river in Cataract Canyon with friends when he was thrown from the raft and into the rapids.
"He was pulled under and drowned when he lost contact with the raft," the park service said Tuesday in a statement. "His body was recovered at the accident site."
