A woman was killed when her car ran off Riverdale Road in South Ogden, hitting a sign and power wires.

Police said it happened just after midnight Monday, when a Mitsubishi Eclipse was headed south on Wall Avenue at a high rate of speed. When the vehicle got to 40th Street and Wall Avenue, police said, the driver failed to negotiate a turn and went off the road at Riverdale Road, hitting a sign and support wires for a power pole. The Mitsubishi landed on its roof.

The driver, Sheila M. Dominguez, 47, of South Ogden, was partially ejected from her car and killed instantly. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt. A passenger, Daniel Fonseca, was wearing a seat belt and suffered only minor injuries.

Police said speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
