OGDEN — Nearly 1,700 runners began the morning in the Ogden Valley east of Huntsville and finished — some faster than others — in downtown Ogden after toughing out 26.2 miles in the Ogden Marathon.

Seth Wold, a 25-year-old Salt Lake City resident, took top honors after completing the course in 2 hours, 22 minutes and 51 seconds.

His pace gave him a comfortable win over Orem's Nicholas McCombs, 28, who took second with a time of 2:26:02. Holladay's Fritz Van De Kamp was third at 2:37:31.

Wold was fast right from the opening gun, as his 5:21-per-mile pace set the tone for the race and he and McCombs shadowed each other for several miles. Wold, though, pulled ahead after the first time check and was 2 1/2 minutes ahead at the 19-mile mark. From their, Wold never let up and continued to run a strong race, closing it out with a 6:04 pace over the final 3.2 miles.

Anna Judd, a 39-year-old from South Ogden, turned on the jets during the second half of the race to pull out a tight win over Sariah Long.

Long, an Ogden resident, held the lead early in the race and held an advantage of nearly four minutes at the 19-mile checkpoint and a more than two-minute lead at 23 miles. But Judd's finishing push saw her make up the all of that distance and then some in the final few miles.

Judd's time of 2:58:38 was 22 seconds better than Long's 2:59:00.

Mischelle Allred, of Ogden, was third at 3:05:27.

Over the final 3.2 miles, Judd kicked it in with a 7:33 mile pace. Long, after pushing it hard over the first 23 miles, ran out of steam and had a pace of 8:33 as Judd took the lead in the final mile.

Alexander Tomas won the men's half-marathon with a time of 1:10:19 over the 13.1-mile course. He outlasted Alexander Pachev, who crossed the line at 1:12:08.

Spanish Fork's Bethany Erickson won the women's half-marathon at 1:29:47, while Florida's Jennifer Jones turned in a time of 1:31:33 for second.
